Gene has lived in West Michigan for his entire life. He attended
Creston High School and is an Alumni of U of M in the field of Real
Estate. He has been in the lending and mortgage arena since 1969. He is
involved in several community organizations, and his local church. Gene
started his Mortgage career in 1969 with Family Acceptance Mortgage
Corp. as branch manager. Gene then went to Old Kent Bank in 1974 in
Grand Haven, Michigan and became VP of mortgage loans and department
head until promoted to Grand Rapids in 1991 to head up mortgage loan
production. Gene also served as a Senior VP with Detroit Northern
Saving Bank where he ran four divisions covering the entire UP and all
of Lower Michigan until the bank was sold in 1999. Just prior to
that Gene also started D & N Mortgage Corporation in 1996 and was
COO of the mortgage corporation until the bank was sold. During Gene’s
Lending career in has originated 1000’s of mortgage loans.
Customer service, honesty, and integrity are number one with Gene and
always will be. Giving GREAT quality Customer Service has served him
well in his referral business.
In 2000 Gene started The Sellers’ Helper LLC, DBA Western Michigan Realty and listed and sold homes and worked with local banks on short sales with their collection departments and Trust departments, Gene also worked with State Conservators in liquidating estate properties until the end of 2008.
